  Safeway on Tice Valley Blvd in Walnut Creek mostly sells to senior citizens who live close by in a Retirement Communitiy of about 10,000 people (Rossmoor).For a lot of them, this is the only place they can grocery shop.   Tonight 02/07/12 8:20PM, I was inline trying to get my stuff checked out at the cashier counter. I laid the carrying case on the slider for a sec to unload the heavy stuff.   Well, once again, we bit the bullet and bought another 3 lb. package of Safeway Thick Sliced Hickory Bacon. When getting ready to cook the stuff we found that the 5-6 end pieces on both ends were loaded with meat. Unfortunately the middle pieces were loaded with fat. It wouldn't be so bad if the bacon came from the pig that way but this was engineered by the packing plant.   I purchased a Spinach dip at the deli counter of the Dalhousie branch of Safeway in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. When I ate the dip I felt a strange warming sensation in my throat. I proceeded to check the package date and saw that the label had been covered up 3 times!!!! I peeled back the labels to find that the original pack date was 10/26 NINE DAYS AGO. I wasn't using a real cashier because the lines are too long or not enough lanes are open.   I have to say that the east-side Safeway in Casper, WY is my favorite grocery store to shop. They have one of the best produce and meat department around. I especially like to shop their markdowns bin for meat, as I can find great deals at 30% (early in the day) or 50% off (mostly after about 4pm). I also like that you can get single items like one carrot or one stalk of celery, rather a full bag in their produce department.   Just wanted to say that Safeway Gas rewards have turned into a joke. We are loyal cusomers to Safeway, but they have now changed how you can redeem your gas rewards. It used to be that you could store up your 10 cent discount and now you can't, you can only have 10 cents off per fill up, this makes it impossible for me to fully redeem my rewards because I don't drive enough to use what I have saved up.   Do not shop at the Safeway store in Prince Frederick, MD. It is very dirty especially behind the sandwich counter. The employees wear dirty aprons and are incredibly slow. The floors and counters are disgusting! Don't even think about using the washrooms... they are even worse. This store is only nice because of the lighting and maybe that's to hide the filth! More...

  Safeway Consumer Complaint
  I went to the Safeway in Denver Co on corona st were I had the deli person make me a sandwich she showed me the advertisement were you received a free 20oz coke with the purchase of a sandwich, I took the items to the cashier were he charged me for the coke I informed him of the advertisement when he started to yell at me in front of a line of people that I was trying to get a free coke and was demanding the names of the deli people who showed me this ad. This cashier needs to work on people skills I hope I never run into another casier like this again. More...
